Yom Kippur Derashah

Can We Reverse the Irreversible? Teshuvah for a Broken World
Dena Weiss
Sunday, September 12
8:15-9:15 PM Eastern
Virtual

We repent in order to go back to the way that things were, to repair what has broken, and to retrieve what we have lost. We often think of Teshuvah as a type of reset button that enables us to erase the past, emerging healed and forgiven. But what if this understanding is erroneous? What if Teshuvah does not change what we hope it will change and fix what we need it to fix? In this class we'll explore a different understanding of the function of Teshuvah and challenge ourselves to articulate the value of trying to undo what is, in fact, irreversible and learn how to live with what will be forever broken.

This derashah is co-sponsored by Temple Israel Center of Westchester, NY.
