A Vision of Power and Courage
Click here to explore a brand new source sheet from Project Zug centered around power and courage in the face of this election and beyond.
Elections are a time in which many of us feel simultaneously empowered and disempowered. We are empowered in that this is our opportunity to make our voice heard yet we may find ourselves feeling powerless both in the waiting for the results and in the aftermath of a new leader announced. In this session, poised at the moment in which we elect someone to serve in one of the highest positions of power in our country, we turn to Jewish texts to ask: what is power? We'll turn to the language of prayer, agadah (story), and poetry in an effort to explore an alternative model of power that subverts expectations and to uncover a vision of power rooted in compassion, courage, and kindness.
