On Sunday, January 5th, Hadar hosted an Egalitarian Daf Yomi Siyyum to mark the completion of the seven and a half year Daf Yomi Cycle. To celebrate this tremendous achievement, the community came together for an afternoon to study text, hear from those who have committed themselves to learning during this cycle, and together commence the next round of learning.
Here you can listen to the opening panel, “2711 Pages Later: Insights Gleaned from Seven and a Half Years of Talmud Study,” featuring Rabbi Jane Kanarek, Rabbi Avi Killip, and Rabbi Avi Strausberg and moderated by Rabbi Ethan Tucker.
You can also listen to the selection of shiurim offered: “The Shirt off His Back”: A Talmudic Story and Its Halakhic Afterlife, by Dr. Devora Steinmetz, "Shall I Compare Thee to a Field?": Thinking About Betrothal and Gender in Bavli Kiddushin, by Rabbi Jane Kanarek, and “Ripping in Anger”: Halakhah, Aggadah, Critical Talmud and Religious Meaning, by Rabbi Ethan Tucker.
Finally, you can experience the siyyum, with a teaching on Massekhet Niddah by Rabbi Aviva Richman, a closing Dvar Torah on Daf Yomi by Rabbi Avi Strausberg, and the beginning of Massekhet Berakhot taught by Rabbi Elie Kaunfer.
